How it works
ROAS tells you how many rupees of revenue each rupee of ad spend generates. It's the most-cited performance metric on Blinkit, Zepto, and Instamart — but it ignores COGS, commission, and fulfillment fees. A 4x ROAS can still mean negative contribution margin on a Health & Nutrition SKU with 38% all-in take rate. Pair ROAS with contribution margin per order, not in isolation.
When to use it
Use ROAS when comparing campaigns within the same category and platform. It's less useful cross-platform (Zepto ROAS is often 20-30% higher than Blinkit for the same SKU because of lower commissions).

A healthy ROAS ranges 4-7x for most D2C categories on Quick Commerce. Branded keywords can hit 8-12x. Below 2x typically means you're losing money after commission and COGS.
Is ROAS the same as ROI?▾
No. ROAS = Revenue / Ad Spend, while ROI = (Revenue − Total Cost) / Total Cost. ROAS measures revenue efficiency of ads only; ROI measures actual profit after all costs.
Why does my Quick Commerce ROAS look better than my actual profit?▾
Because ROAS is calculated on gross revenue, while profit subtracts commission (12-22%), fulfillment fees, and COGS. A brand showing 5x ROAS often runs at breakeven after all deductions. Use 'True ROAS' (net of commission + fees) for decision-making.
How is ROAS different from ACOS?▾
ACOS = 1/ROAS × 100. ACOS 25% = 4x ROAS. ACOS is preferred on Amazon; ROAS is more commonly used on Quick Commerce platforms in India.
